CERTIFICATIONS
Pathways to highly-regarded professional certifications for rainwater harvesting through our partnership with ASSE International
ARCSA offers individuals a path to highly-regarded professional certification options thanks to our partnership with ASSE International. Through this partnership, ARCSA’s rainwater harvesting training workshops are now prerequisites for the ASSE Series 21000 Rainwater Catchment Systems Personnel Certifications.
THE PATH TO ASSE CERTIFICATIONS
ASSE International is a third-party certifier for professionals in the plumbing and mechanical industries. ASSE professional certifications raise the employability of professionals and are built on professional standards developed under the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)-accredited standards development process.
- ASSE Certification exams can be taken online or in person at approved ASSE testing facilities.
- New candidates (those who do not hold a current ARCSA AP designation) for ASSE Certification must meet the following prerequisites in order to sit for an ASSE Series 21000 Certification exam:
- minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of experience in rainwater catchment, plumbing, piping, irrigation or a related industry field or profession
- Successful completion of a training course that encompasses a minimum of 16 contact hours covering all aspects of Standard 21110, 21120, or 21130 and ARCSA/ASPE/ANSI 63-2013 (and ARCSA/ASPE/ANSI 78-2015 for Inspectors) Plumbing Engineer and Design Standard for Rainwater Catchment System.
- Successfully passing a written exam encompassing all aspects of Standard 21110, 21120, or 21130 and ARCSA/ASPE/ANSI 63. The written exam must be a minimum of 100 questions with a passing grade of at least 75%.
- ASSE-approved trainers for the purposes of Series 21000 Certification include:
- Certification shall be for a three (3) year period.
- Recertification through ASSE will typically require a four (4) hour refresher class and a short exam.
